Red Cabbage Still Life

It was a cold week in winter and I was stuck inside in the studio.  I decided to paint this still life of some vegetables that I don’t normally include in my paintings.  This was inspired by a trip to the grocery and I was struck by how beautiful all the fruits and vegetables looked.  I cut the red cabbage to add more texture to the painting.  The artichoke and the radishes were a good foil for the cabbage.  You will also see one of the wine bottles that I used in the painting, Blue Rimmed Bowl.  All in all, this was fun to paint.  The bright colors will make a welcome addition to nearly any setting, especially kitchens and dining areas.
