The still lifes depicted here are generally from humble objects, flowers, fruits, vegetables, etc.  I admit to haunting flea markets and resale shops for many of the items that appear in these paintings.  I have a whole cupboard in my studio which holds all these treasures and the sharp-eyed observer will often see the same vases, bowls, objects in more than one painting.  The flowers are always from my own garden as are many of the vegetables.  These paintings tend to be saturated with more color than some of my other work.  It is always a real struggle to step back from too much realism and to let the impression happen.  Many of these paintings are also smaller and, thus, more affordable.
