The first painting I ever sold was a figure painting, an illustration for a poem. I’d say that really launched my art career. I don’t much care for typical portraits but am drawn to representing people in situations, especially outdoors. I seek to capture the personality, not just a portrait and freely change backgrounds, clothing, etc. You will often find me in public situations surreptitiously sketching in a pocket notebook – in a restaurant, at the theatre, in a park, even in Times Square at night.
