Little Valley in Spring

Description

This bright and cheery painting is of a little valley that I used to pass every day on my way to work. I actually did a plein air painting earlier on the spot.  (See my blog post about it here.)  This morning the little valley looked so crisp and bright after a storm had swept through the night before.  I loved the slanting early morning light and bright colors.  It was actually painted from memory.  The painting is done in an impressionistic style with thick paint (impasto) so it has great texture.  Original oil on canvas, 16 x 20.
